Ran great for months then it died again, except this time it was at my shop. I then put back the relay, fuse and connected the module in that order and it fired right up. I did get it started and how I did it was by checking and clearing all codes, pulling the fuel relay, fuel injector fuse (30A, no. FWIW I purchased my Flex used and perhaps it had the recall done and it was never recorded under the vin because Ford did send me the recall notice. Pulled out module, discovered that it has the new updated unit already installed. Didn’t have tools to pull fuel pump module behind C pillar so I had it towed to my shop. I am a mechanic so I tried the usual stuff ie: pulling and inspecting fuses, relays etc. Recently my ‘13 EB left me stranded in a park axe 4 stories underground lol not happy. It is to warn other Flex owners that a fairly inexpensive preventive maintenance may save you from being stranded. The reason for this thread isn’t to complain. I guess the new one mounts with a spacer and they put a thin coat of grease on the aluminum preventing the issue from happening again. Steel and aluminum don’t play well together causing the corrosion and ultimately the failure. My local mechanic told me it is an aluminum backed plastic module mounted on a piece of steel. Luckily in my garage rather than in the woods of northern MI where I had been for a week just 3 days earlier. One left me stranded while driving down the road. Neither car showed any ill symptoms prior to the problem. I was told by both the dealership and my local mechanic that the module was corroded on each car.

For $170 and a tow bill I was down the road. They had it repaired in no time $90 for the part and $80 labor. Had it towed to my local mechanic and guess what. Yesterday, at 61,000 miles it would not start. I bought this car in April with 50,000 miles on it out of Florida. That Flex now has 75,000 miles on it and is good to go. I paid the $300ish bill and went on down the road.

I had it towed to the dealership to find out the fuel pump driver module went bad. Last year at approximately 65,000 miles on it the car died while driving down the road. I bought the car in 2016 with 29,000 miles and Ford certified.
